The Babbling Toad

Hush, and listen above the musings of the loud and proud.

Things I did before turning 21

#1 Bought Mia. Yet to touch it, and at least its safely kept in the cupboard. Talk to dad and asked him to charge her batteries, but he sounded to me like he was too scared to touch my gigantic monster, so hopefully William can help me get her geared and ready for my return :D
[And I have decided to change it to Chloe instead of Mia.Which is better?]

#2 Returned to New Zealand, the place I was when I turned 18.

#3 Got a couple handfuls of nicknames. From Magic Wolf, to Miss Toilet, to Monkey Wong :))
[to explain, i was toilet po because I never fail to visit the toilet each 10 minute break I had between the hourly lectures. Monkey Wong because I have this habit to tease people non-stop, and maybe because of my passion for bananas? And Magic Wolf, just to fit the MW initials.]

#4 Finished reading My Sister's Keeper. I rarely finish reading a book these days because there seem to be plenty of other things to do apart from reading books when you're free. Glad I finished it, and I'm ready to read more, hopefully! :D

#5 Played piano at church. I've always wanted to do something for church, seeing Bern being so obssessedly involved in church choir. Glad I've made the initiative to make the 1st move, and this has made all the difference. And I do look forward to Bernard's addition next year.

#6 Got drunk and puked. Dont worry Mummie, I was in safe hands and it felt quite horrible. At least I did it before I turned 21. An experience to keep.

#7 Worked in a vegetable processing factory and deeply understand how tough it was to be a manual labourer. And I still wonder how people made it to work everyday. I felt all emo throughout the whole of last week when I had to work everyday :P

#8 Passed third year of pharmacy, and I'm off to 4th year and final year next year!

#9 Passing of grandma beginning this year. It has been quite a while now, but I can still remember how she used to smile and call me B-girl. And, how painful it felt when she was in the ICU. I remember the fear I had in me in touching her, cos I didnt want her to feel cold. I regret for not calling her more often the previous years. But fret not, I call a lot more often now.

#10 Skipped a few lectures in uni - not ponteng, but to try and finish up some parts for our literature review together with Phyllis in Law Library.

#11 Attempted to descale, remove the internal organs and de-gill a fish. Did not really success, but oh wells, it was still an attempt nonetheless :D

#12 I cut my hair to above shoulder length, and personally thinks its my best hair style throughout my twenty years on earth. On a side note, Mushroom head needs an urgent trim before Turkey!

12.12.

Happy birthday to meee! :D

Two more hours till the end of my special day. Should I shower and go to sleep, or stay up and just feel special from all the facebook messages and calls.

Ive had three birthday cakes this year - the most lot ever in my life. Aaah, I feel so loved :D

Turning 21 feels much bigger than turning 20. Its a bit like 49 going to 50. Scary. I was asked how old I was a few days ago at work, and I had to say 21 to save the trouble explaining about being 21 in a few days time yadida yadida. But I'm really 21 now. Damn. Hahaha.

More photos when I eventually get to do it.

Thank you once again for all the effort people - family and friends make the world go round :)))))

And I shall get out of my comfort zone doing nothing and start packing tomorrow, because I'm leaving on Mondayyyy.

You smell the excitement?

ONE more day to my birthday!

I am excited now because I don't have to work anymore tomorrow! and everyone has a day off so everyone can celebrate my birthday with me. By everyone I mean Aaron and Carmen. Heee :D

We have whole length of plans for tomorrow already. Breakfast at home, salamanca, shopping and I MUST drop by Boost Juice to get my free birthday juice! :D

I am excited for Monday because
#1 I am getting my payslip so I know exactly how much my hands have earned me.
#2 Byan's graduation. Yet to think about what to wear for this special day
#3 I am finally leaving Hobart for the year 2009 and the very next day I can go shopping in KL already!

But then, I'll be 21 then! Which is scaryyyyy.

I think I have muscles on my arms already from carrying crates of coral lettuces. But they all deny the presence my wonderful musculature :P

I was working with a bunch full of Koreans today, and my, they sound so much like in the korean movies. I couldnt join in the conversation because obviously I'm handicapped in terms of speaking Korean. All I did was listen to how they sounded like, and wei, how come they sound as though they were asking questions each sentence.

Anyway this one week of work experience has been worthwhile. Though it was tough, cold and tiring, I've learnt for real that money is really really hard to earn. But at least I'm a labourer earning AUD18++ per hour, meaning RM54++/hour. Flash or not?

Birthday dinner with Phyllis and gang, and embedded with it a cheesy surprise for someone else. Yeayyyy!

21 tomorrow! :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

4 days to KL

I feel so shit and tired and I just need to ramble on something.

My left wrist feels dispatched from the left hand, and my shoulders ache like nobody's business. Even though I vowed this morning to not wet myself anymore, I got my whole lower body wet right from the beginning of shift. That means I was literally soaked in wet clothes for the whole day. After lunch, I couldnt be bothered to have my 15 minute break to avoid to hassle of taking of the weather-proof gear and putting it back on. It was at that point when I felt the chill right into my bones. My ears itched because of the cold, and my fingers felt so frost bitten.

Why, why, why.

Money. All for the sake of money. If it wasnt because of the extra couple hundred dollars, I wouldnt have made it to 4 days of work. And heads up, I'm going to work for another day tomorrow, kicking off at 6am again.

TWO more days to my birthday. I'm so so so very exhausted right now, so tired that even thinking about my birthday doesnt excite me at all.

Haih, and I still have to worry about tonight's dinner and tomorrow's lunch. I want sweet sour fish for dinner please, kolomee for breakfast, and chicken rice for lunch.

Urgh, life is tough. And making money with your own hands is tougher.

4th day

Its 5:15am, and I am ready with my 4 layers of top and 2 pants plus three pairs of socks. I am determined to pull to clothes pants up high today, so that I dont get wet anymore. Grrr it kills to get wet because that just doubles the chill, and working in a fridge at 4 degrees doesnt help.

Its a bit hard to look forward to new things each day, when I have is to wake up with yet again sore muscles. And this time, even the arch of my feet hurts - thats for standing the whole day.

And I have extended hours today. Was told to start work at 6am instead of the usual 8.

And, every single day before going to work, I get this sudden onset nose bleeds. Fresh blood though, not dried ones. And I have been constipated because I dont have the time to attend to toilet needs.

Urgh, no life.

I'm come back tonight with stories about coring okay.

5:19am, see ya!

Salad butcher

I feel like making a salad butcher song out of the the "I'm a little teapot, short and stout" song.

That is basically what I have been doing the past 2 days - paid for butching lettuces. Like my workmate said, we undergo autopsy on the lettuces, and he decides that most of them die of natural cause. I'd say they die of murder.

I hold the bread knife from 8 till 4. Thats not exactly that long, but I get sore hands - arthritis I name them at the end of the shift. And more so, I woke up with stiff, painful neck this morning.

But, no complains though. I said right, I was paid for butching :)) Some extra pocket money to pay for the party :D

Less than one week to go. This time next week, I'll be shopping away in KL, and would have eaten black hokkien mee and pork ribs. Yessssss!
